suguru tanaka – strange palace
Based in Tokyo, Suguru Tanaka has painted for nearly 15 years. His work was inspired by Zdzisław Beksiński’s haunting art, and influenced by surreal artist, including Jan Švankmaje, David Lynch, Junji Ito, H.R. Giger, and the game Silent Hill.
Suguru Tanaka draws from daily life, architecture, nature, and living creatures, creating characters reminiscent of insects or microscopic life—calm, mysterious, neither frightening nor cute. His works are unsettling yet captivating, where fear and beauty intertwine.
